I started using the service only in June 2012 despite claiming to be a social media stud. I just didn't see the point in using their filters versus one of the many apps I have. The sharing with Facebook and Twitter made it become really useful in my eyes, but now that the images don't appear in Twitter feeds it is a bit of an issue. I still like the control of posting some images to Facebook and some to Twitter though. more instagram followers
I like instagram alone, so I don't know about the twitter issues. And you mentioned that instagram's filters cost money? Mine were free, maybe it's different on Android?
